Our History

Bennington's company history is detailed in a timeline style graphic. The first year of note is 1996: Equirex was founded in 1996, to provide equipment leasing services for new and existing businesses in the Canadian sub-prime risk market segment. The second year of note is 2007: Equirex acquired Kempenfelt Capital to expand its market reach into the non-prime risk segment. The next year on the timeline is 2008: Equirex expanded its product reach by moving into the commercial vehicle leasing segment. The next year dotted on the timeline is 2011: Equirex bought Bodkin Capital, one of Canada’s oldest equipment and vehicle leasing companies, and incorporated it into its families, and established Bennington Financial Services Corp. The last year featured on the timeline is 2019: Bennington officially changed its name to Bennington Financial Corp. and joined the Equitable Bank Group of Companies as a standalone subsidiary.

Backed by Equitable Bank, Canada's Challenger Bank™, Bennington through its brands Equirex, Bodkin and Kempenfelt is able to continue its growth and provide unique and customized equipment financing products and services to an extended risk profile.
